San Francisco, CA, June 19, 2021 — Feel Therapeutics, Inc., announced their participation in the HEART project, coordinated by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). The project kicked off with 18 partners from academia and different fields of expertise. The acronym HEART comes from the very philosophy of this urban-health and well-being inspired project’s title: HEAlthier cities Through blue-green Regenerative Technologies.

European and international cities face crucial global geopolitical, economic, environmental, and other changes. All these intensify threats to and inequalities in citizens’ health. The HEART project will focus its research efforts on a specific range of diseases, such as mental disorders (including stress, anxiety, depression), cardiovascular-related diseases (examples are hypertension or arrhythmia), obesity, diabetes, asthma, and allergies.

HEART is altering the conventional approach to urban planning and revitalization. To achieve this, HEART aims at engaging local communities to map the needs and challenges and to express their expectations/preferences so that delivered solutions are planned/created together and finally embraced by the citizens.

The Feel Emotion Sensor will be used to monitor and assess the impact of the Blue-Green-based interventions on hundreds of participants across these three cities. The Feel Emotion Sensor is a wearable mental health device that uses proprietary algorithms to continuously monitor a person’s emotional state. Essentially, it can translate bio-signals such as electro-dermal activity, heart rate variability and skin temperature into emotions, eliminating the need to ask people to manually complete surveys and questionnaires. Feel will monitor and analyze both the short and long-term impact and value of the BG based interventions on people’s stress and anxiety levels by quantifying the pre- and post-implementation levels. Together with other HEART partners, the National Technical University of Athens and Feel Therapeutics hope to create cities that improve people’s quality of life by improving urban health and local environmental conditions.

“We are more than excited to participate in such a meaningful project with an amazing team of innovators, that will facilitate healthier living environments with a great potential for prosperity “ says CTO and Co-Founder Dr. Haris Tsirmpas.

HEART has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program H2020-EU.3.1.2, under grant agreement No 945105.
